Assistance to orphans and poor girls during their marriage
The
curse of dowry is common in most of the South Asian countries especially
Pakistan where parents are unable to get their young daughters married
due of lack of money. Such grief-stricken and helpless parents sometimes
resort to extreme measures such as killing their children and thereafter
committing suicide themselves.
HRO
supports such parents and provides them with basic necessities to get
their daughters married. The items normally include a few dresses, pair
of shoes, few utensils, beddings, fan, a sewing machine and some cash
for other marriage expenses. It costs approximately
$100
to $600
for each marriage.
